2. Baby Bees to Academy


The Rugby Journey – Baby Bees to Academy

At Billericay Bees, we offer a complete rugby pathway – starting with the youngest players and progressing through to the Academy.

Mixed groups of boys & girls up to U11, before boys & girls move into separate groups at U12.

Following the RFU Age Grade Rugby Framework, ensuring that development is appropriate for every stage from Baby Bees to Academy.


Mini Rugby (Baby Bees – U12)

  • Baby Bees (Age 2–4)
  • Movement, fun games, and basic coordination.
  • U6 (Year 1)
  • Rugby-themed games, no contact.
  • U7–U8 (Years 2–3)
  • Tag Rugby – non-contact, learning to pass, dodge, and score tries.
  • U9–U10 (Years 4–5)
  • First introduction to tackling and contact rugby in small teams.
  • U11–U12 (Years 6–7)
  • Larger teams, more rugby skills. Introduction of scrums.

Youth Rugby (U13–U16)

Youth Boys U13–U16 (Years 8–11)

  • The full game develops step by step.
  • Contested scrums, lineouts, tactical kicking, and larger squads.
  • Full 15-a-side by U15/U16.

Youth Girls U12–U18 (Years 7–13)

  • A dedicated Girls’ Youth Team at Billericay Bees.
  • Age grade training working closely with other local clubs.
  • Focus on fun, development, and team spirit.

Academy (U17–U18, Boys)

  • The final stage of the boys’ youth pathway.
  • Players develop strength, fitness, and tactical awareness.
  • Prepares players for transition into Senior Men’s rugby.
