Great Strides Made Again

What, yet again may look like a hammering, is great strides forward made by the u14/15's against a team that were very tough and well drilled and experienced.

The day will come when the tough lessons the boys are going through will reap huge rewards.

Brightlingsea did cross the Billericay try line 11 times but yet again the boys did not quit, let their heads drop or make it easy for their opponents.

Every penalty was tapped. Marshalled by scrum half Luke. Alex W and Evan taking turns to run hard at their opponents but also this week others were sticking their hands up to have a go. Joseph, Tommy and George D especially. What made a big difference was the support once they were tackled Alex H and Tom M to the fore.
Every breakdown was contested, especially by Elliot who battles and burrows away against boys twice his size.

The boys did come oh so close to a try after a 10 minute spell of great play. A series of penalties, starting from their own 22, were tapped and from a great break and interplay between backs and forwards Joe was held by four defenders as he went over the try line. He battled to the floor by the referee saw defending hands under the ball.

The backs again had a hard day with the little ball they did get but when it was spread wide by Luke H, Joey and Harry to wingers Jack and Jimmy they made every effort to go forward. Special mention to Harry who made some great tackles today in just his fifth game. Even getting up from one hit and getting stuck straight back in.

Again Cookie, Marcus and I are extremely proud of the way the boys played today. Courage, Commitment and Confidence to continually play against older, bigger and well drilled teams.
