Another week, another excellent second half from the Bees

Squad: Taylor, Josh, Samuel, Thomas, Harry D, Alfie, Archie, Toby, Joe, Robert, Ted, Harry S, Charlie, Lucas, Chase

The Billericay U14s are going through a 'learning on the job' process at the moment, like many rugby clubs, the weather has affected ability to train and host matches so every opportunity for a development match is a great chance to help the boys improve and the last few weeks has been exactly that, taking matches one by one and focussing on improvements.
Yesterdays match was exactly that, a chance to face a development squad from one of our neighbours who wanted themselves to get match time to some of their boys.
It was another excellent performance from the boys, similar pattern to recent matches, going behind early on, rallying and winning the second half.
We played 13 a side due to Basildon not having a full XV, this made it really big pitch for the lads so there was a lot of tired legs by the end. Basildon got themselves ahead as Billericay took time to settle, but the black and gold hit back with a scorching run down the wing by Harry D who outpaced the defenders and got Billericay back into the match. Unfortunately Harry took a hard tackle and a knock to the head so he will need to sit out a few weeks, we look forward to welcoming you back Harry as soon as you are ready.
What was impressive with the second half was how the boys upped their work rate, despite missing Harry's energy and pace, the boys worked really hard for each other, the support play was very impressive and the hard running of the backs helped the Bees play most of the match in the Basildon half. Toby powered over for an impressive score and then Ted showed real pace to get away from his defender and go over for a great individual try. Quick thinking from Thomas taking a quick tap and go penalty and diving over took the second half try scoring to 3-1 for Billericay.
Another excellent week for the boys, next job is to improve on the slow starts, and turning it into a complete performance

Well done boys !
Paul
