The Bees welcomed Bancroft to Willowbrook for a friendly on a chilly but bright December day, the match was a red hot contest though as the Billericay U14s put in arguably their best all round team performance of the season but most importantly, a big improvement on the last match.
The big Bancroft lads (who included some U14 six footers in their ranks !) got off to the quicker start and Billericay took a good 10 minutes to start to get to grips with their opponent and Bancroft were able to sneak over for 3 quick tries. As usual, the Billericay U14s never let their heads drop and they started to fight back and gain some momentum and some posession. The scrum was working really well after a tough day against Woodford in the cup and the boys in black and gold were able to hold their own.
Billericay got on the scoresheet through a sharp break from full back Harry D who dotted down between the sticks, Chase who made his first start as prop today put over the extras and Billericay were in the game!
The second half was an excellent contest, Billericay's tackling was much improved and their rucking was back to its best. The boys really stood up well, played arguably the better passing rugby and put their bigger opponent under lots of pressure. The scoreboard finished in Bancrofts favour but they knew they had been in a game !
Handshakes all round and a really great effort from Billericay. One more match of 2019 boys - lets make it a good one !
