Billericay U13s were given a warm welcome on our first ever visit to Canvey Island RUFC on a chilly damp morning. The Bees started slowly, taking a good 10 minutes to sort their defensive line out and get their tackling game going. Canvey ran in three early scores before the Bees managed to register a try themselves. From then on though, Billericay upped their game to the level which they have shown recently but this time they kept it up for 40 minutes and played their best rugby of the season. The Billericay scrum was totally dominant, winning the majority of scrums including the majority against the head as well as our own. The tackling was excellent, the passing was slick and the kicking in play was always into good areas. There was a clear 'try of the season' contender where the ball was worked from the right wing position through at least five pairs of hands and on to the full back to run into the far left corner for the score, superb !! It was really satisfying for the coaches and parents to see the boys hard efforts over the season working towards a really positive all round team performance, the boys need to remember how this feels and take it into the final game of the season and then into next season at U14 level. Congratulations to the boys today, they all enjoyed themselves and can be really proud of how well they played.
