Billericay welcomed Witham U13 to Willowbrook on a dreary damp March morning, some heavy rain and a senior match the day before had left the pitch in a soggy state but it was definitely playable. Billericay U13s were looking to make improvements on their last two matches and they did so to great effect in an excellent match played in a great spirit.
Billericay dominated the first half playing probably the best rugby they have played all season, the scrum was strong, the handling good despite the slippery conditions, they support play was excellent and the Bees were able to keep the strong Witham lads pegged back with much improved tackling. The tries were all 'team tries' where the ball was worked up the pitch involving everyone in the team which are always the best ones to watch !
The second half belonged to Witham and they used the downhill slope, their physical strength and some tiring Billericay tackling to their advantage and they ran in several tries to take the match from Billericay's grasp.
The score didn't really matter, it was a really good game of rugby, plenty of good, fair aggression from both sides, handshakes all round at the end and mud, glorious mud everywhere !!!
