Billericay ran Wanstead close on Sunday at Willowbrook but ultimately went out of the Essex cup.

Playing down the slope in the first half Billericay scored first through a flowing move finished by Sam Phillips in the corner. Sam Wicks gave the conversion a good go but alas the try was almost on the touch line.
Wanstead came close to scoring but a massive tackle from Ruben Collings two metres out saved a certain try.
This certainly boosted the Bee's to play better. Defending their line with determination and attacking with intent.
Wanstead's only reply before half time was a penalty from in front of the posts.

Wanstead came back playing down the slope and some weak tackling let the Wanstead player through three or four tackles to score under the posts. The conversion making it 5-10 to the away side.

This gave the Bee's a kick and they played really well for the rest of the game. Some determined defence including two more massive tackles in open play from Ruben Collings, Solid tackling from Callum Mayo, Sam Fisher and Tom Spooner around the fringes of the rucks. Great organization from Sam Wicks. Josh Worsell was kept busy at full back as mistakes from Billericay attacks turned the ball over and Wanstead kicked clear on a few occasions.

Billericay did find it tough to get out of their half in the second period but for all Wanstead's huff and puff they couldn't get through, that was until the last play of the game when from a scrum on the Billericay 5m they scored in the corner. This some what deflated the Black & Gold boys and put a gloss on the scoreline for Wanstead.

Coach Mario certainly made it clear how happy he was with this performance and hopefully the boys take this determination in to next weeks league game at Basildon. Kickoff will be at 11am.
