U11 at SWF

We had seventeen guys in the squad today and all did very well in difficult conditions. We had rain, wind, some sunshine and very cold conditions today and the guys did exceedingly well; against both South Woodham Ferres and Maldon we won one and lost one:

Parents player of the day was Lewis; he was so strong going forward, taking the ball (and sometimes 2 or 3 opposing players on his back) over the gain line; he was committed in the tackle and displayed some very good passing ability. He also scored 2 excellent trys!

Players player of the day was Jack W; he tackled like a man possessed, was all over the pitch and very good in the ruck and with ball in hand..

There were so many good performances out on the pitch today it is impossible to recount them all, particularly as it was too cold for me to hold my pen!!! Some highlights:

- It was good to see Finn get on the score sheet with a great pick-up, drive for the line and just as he was being stopped to twist his way over and scored an excellent try.

- Leo put in some really excellent tackles throughout the game and showed great determination in the ruck.

- Some fantastic tackles by Cameron, Ben A, Jack W, Christian, Cameron, Ben P (until he went off injured with a sore ankle) and Charlie,

- Some great running by William, Tom (Scored 3 / 4 trys), Jamie, Matthew, Jasper and Tommy

- Some excellent rucking and mauling by Lewis, Reggie, Charlie, Tom, Jack W, Ben A, Leo, Jack M with Jamie getting stuck in as well.

The guys are still needing to (Do remind them) :

- communicate more on the pitch
- stop following/chasing the ball
- look when they're passing the ball
- get themselves into defensive and attacking lines
