So the first festival of the season, the weather was booked, shame the valet parking wasn't.
There was me thinking I would be one of the first ones there but even arriving just after nine I was directed to park in the royal mail car park. After the long walk to the fields, I spotted Paul and Harry and we checked out the map and thought we were in the right place just in front of the club house. Coffee was ordered and we waited only to be told the pitch was the other end of the field, more walking and we finally arrived.
We had a great numbers, in hindsight we actually had enough for 2 teams but thank fully all players were understanding and we made the choice to switch the teams at half time rather than try to manage subbing them on 1 at a time.
Over all four games the general performance from every one was very good. With playing against 4 other teams it gives us a good opportunity to compare how we are progressing against the performance of other teams. On the basis of this i think we have progressed very well and are in a good position for the introduction of tackling next season.
Think you will all agree that the team did very well. All round we were good at defense and tagging, the diving tags are becoming our specialty. Although we did not complete the 7 tag challenge the defensive pressure did cause a few mistakes by the opposition which we benefited from.
We saw some great attacking play, good running and side steps, and some great passing and catching.
Thanks to Danny we have some the following scores and scorers;
1st Game against Chelmsford was 5-4 to us with tries from Nick, Sam and Nathan
2nd Game against Bishop Stortford was 5-5 with tries from Sam, Nick and Nathan
3rd Game against a different Chelmsford team 4-6 to Chelmsford with tries from Sam, Jimmy Nathan and Nick
4th Game against Crowborough was 8 -2 to us with tries from Jimmy, Henry and Nick
Hope everyone enjoyed the day, next week we have training and the following Saturday we have the Beefest.
