Five try Bees finally see off tough Harlow.

Billericay Bees U16 advanced today in the waterfall cup.
Harlow chose to play down the hill from the start and battered the Billericay defence for ten minutes before opening the scoring out wide. The conversion was missed. 0-5
Billericay responded and showed some great ambition playing up hill spreading the ball wide as often as possible. A clearance kick from the left of the Harlow 22 crossfield was caught by Dan P who stepped and outpaced the backline to dot down on 14 minutes. Keiron converted 7-5.
Five minutes later Bees extended their lead. A burst up the middle from 30m out by Ruben caught the defence napping and he placed the ball down under the posts. Again Keiron converted. 14-5.

14 Became 21 when a kick up field with no full back at home was chased up by the home team. Two metres from the tryline Sam F was tackled from behind before picking up the ball resulting in a penalty try. 21-5. Harlow were the next to score a converted try to finish the first half.
HT 21-12

Playing with the slope Bees were to open the second half scoring on 14 minutes when Ruben intercepted a pass from the Harlow team to race away under the posts. Keiron added the extra two points for 28-12 and this was to become 35-12 seven minutes later when Ruben scored his third when finishing off under the posts from a great team move on the right hand side of the pitch.

To their credit Harlow battled all day and when they score two converted tries on 24 and 29 minutes to close to 35-26 to give themselves a chance.
Billericay closed out the game with a good game management decision. They were awarded a penalty in front of the post 7m out and after a brief team discussion Keiron kicked the three points to extend their lead to 12 with four minutes to play.

Final Score :
Bees 38 26 Harlow.

This really was a great game to watch and a good advert for Youth Rugby from both sides. Fierce but fair. Respect shown from both sets of players who were a credit to their clubs.
Bees entertain Harlow again in March in a league game. Our next game is away at Romford in the league on 04/02/18.
