The 1st team headed to Maldon for their first league game of the season. A good challenge for a first game of the season especially with it being one of the hottest days in September. A challenging match but closely fought unfortunately Billericay lost by only 2 points (Maldon 22 Billericay 20).
The 2nd team went to another part of the essex coast and took the A127 to Southend to play their 5th Team in their first league game of the season. A day more suited to sunbathing on the coast rather than rugby it was a high scoring game. Billericay were 39-19 up at half time but with experienced subs coming on in the second half Southend got back into the game and the game finished 50-39.
With the England game we decided to start training earlier for Baby Bees up to Under 12's.
Every one seemed excited for both training and the opportunity to head to the pub afterwards to watch the game.
Many thanks to the volunteers from the Under 6's for their help with the car park.
With training postponed because of the England game a number of players from the under 13's headed to Lake Meadows for the Junior Park run (Pictured). Running in their kit was a great advert for the club, and well done to all those that took part, with 2 of them finishing in 12th and 15th. Also taking part in the park run was one of the Under 10's, well done to Rory who did the park run before heading to training.
For the first time ever the car park was empty by 11.15, I headed to the Inn on the Green and it was great to see a large selection of senior, youth and mini players, parents and supporters at the pub to watch the England game. I am please to say that in the Guinness drinking contest between the age groups the final results were in first place Under 10 players (Nick, Niall and Jacob), followed by the Seniors and third were the baby bees (Joke, no underage drinking took place). Many thanks to Inn on the Green for hosting and Peter Phillips for arranging this.
If you are free on Thursday for the England v USA game President Scott and Chairman Neil will be heading to the Inn on the Green to watch the game, there is an open invite for anyone wishing to join them.
The Under 15's were away to Clacton on Sunday. A challenging game against tough opposition, Coach matt has written a superb match review which can be found here https://www.billericayrugby.com/teams/93524/match-centre/0-4549824/report .
