A few months ago, the club was devastated to learn of the passing of Matt Macdonald. Matt was a fabulous coach, working with our team of U8’s at the time. He was a well-loved member of the team and was fantastically creative, inventing a now legendary Mr Bean warm up. He loved coaching the “Bees” and always wore his “Coach” shirt with pride.

With the blessing of his family the club would like to announce the introduction of the Matt Macdonald Memorial Award.

This will be awarded to a club coach that demonstrates the qualities that make a great coach. Someone who has an incredibly positive outlook and enthusiasm for their craft. Someone who is highly supportive and motivates each one of their team to be the best they can be. This coach is eager to develop their own coaching skills and knowledge and welcomes support and advice openly. They may have done something unique to engage the team, generally increased participation in the sport or inspired an individual in some way.

All these qualities were present in Matt and we hope that this award is a fitting memorial in his name.

The announcement of this seasons winner will be made at this years Bee Festival (Saturday 23rd April 2022).
